Presentation Session Abstract
2019 Ruben Spruijt & Benny Tritsch Opening Keynote Download Benny and Ruben will kick off this year’s event with a rundown of the most important driving factors in delivering a good user experience today. They’ll also go through VDI Like a Pro survey results to help understand what the rest of the world is doing with regards to desktop virtualization and, specifically, the end user experience.
2019 Ruben Spruijt & Benny Tritsch Graphics for Virtual Desktops Smackdown 2019 Download Ready to drink from a fire hose? Two Remote Graphics Experts, Benny Tritsch and Ruben Spruijt, will share their industry insights about Graphics for Virtual Desktops. In this session Ruben and Benny will walk you through the latest graphics for Virtual Desktops developments, including the solutions offered on-premises by NVIDIA, Intel, AMD and GPU options in Azure, AWS and Google clouds.
2019 Benny Tritsch Measuring perceived remote end-user experience with REX Analytics Not available yet This session introduces you to a community-driven toolset used to measure perceived remote end-user experience. The underlying test methodology relies on running predefined synthetic workloads, using a video capture device connected to the client device’s video output and collecting correlated performance data on the host system. The results are then visualized by feeding them into a graphical analyzer.
2019 Benny Tritsch Top 3 REX Analytics results: Comparing remoting solutions and protocols Not available yet Join Benny Tritsch in his session about using REX Analytics for a head-to-head comparison of different remote desktop solutions and protocols.
2019 Rody Kossen The video codecs behind modern remote display protocols Download You may think the Protocol Wars are over, but there are still differences you need to know about the video codecs behind modern remoting protocols from Citrix, VMware, Microsoft, and Frame/Nutanix. Those differences become more significant as the importance of GPU support grows.

In this session intermediate-level session from Rody Kossen, you’ll learn:

  • The differences between codecs and use cases for each
  • Exactly what things like YUV4:2:0 and REC709 mean
  • Why a GPU is necessary in the modern workplace
2019 Rody Kossen The Protocol Wars: How to win and enhance User eXperience (UX) Download Each vendor provides many settings that you can use to optimize the User eXperience, but which ones are appropriate for which situations? In this intermediate-level session, Rody will answer that question. While it will focus mainly on Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, some of the information will also apply to VMware Horizon or Nutanix Frame.

Attendees will:

  • Get an overview of all the important UX settings in Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops
  • Learn general recommendations around protocol settings
  • See the difference protocols can mean for the user with live comparisons
2019 Patrick van den Born & Rody Kossen Remote graphic workloads and clients Download As we add advanced GPUs to our virtual desktop environments, delivering the best user experience requires tweaking of remote display protocol settings like quality, compression, chroma subsampling, not to mention vendor-specific settings. But what about the different clients?

In this intermediate-level session Rody Kossen and Patrick van den Born will show you the difference in user experience between clients and workloads. You’ll learn:

  • The most common endpoints and remote display protocols
  • Why the choice of client is dependent on the type of workload you run
  • Which display protocol settings can be used on which endpoints
2019 Erik Bohnhorst Choosing the right NVIDIA GPU for your workload Download NVIDIA vGPU runs on all Tesla boards which can make the decision hard if you don’t understand the differences between the options.        In this beginner-level, session you will learn which NVIDIA Tesla GPU to chose for your workload. Additionally, you’ll learn about the entire Tesla hardware lineup, as well as the different editions of NVIDIA vGPU.
2019 Erik Bohnhorst NVIDIA’s unique approach to quantifying user experience Download In this session you will learn how NVIDIA benchmarks User Experience in VDI and RDSH environments. You will leave this session with an understanding of how NVIDIA GRID vPC impacts the user experience and increases productivity.
2019 Jits Langedijk NVIDIA vGPU: The full update Download NVIDIA vGPU technology helps businesses support Digital Transformation, but do you know all that they’re doing? In this session, Jits will give you everything you need to know to be fully up-to-date with the latest features of NVIDIA’s vGPU platform.
2019 Ryan Ververs-Bijkerk The true differences between Citrix Visual Quality Profiles Download Citrix allows you to tune the user experience through the use of Visual Quality Profiles, but have you ever considered the performance impact of these settings? In this expert-level session, Ryan will explore the impact of these Visual Quality Profiles on capacity and bandwidth while using real-world data from the ICT-R community platform.

Attendees will learn how to explain the performance impact of the different Citrix Visual Quality Profiles and what their impact is on the server side, network, and endpoint.

2019 Denis Gundarev Inside the RDP Protocol Download As the product manager for RDP and a longtime community member, Denis Gundarev will explain what’s been going on in the development of the RDP protocol, what its capabilities are today, and provide some inside on where it is going.
2019 Christiaan Brinkhoff The story behind Community book project Byte-Sized Download The idea behind this community project is simple, we were looking for as many cloud design principles, best or common practices, quotes, and architectural recommendations as possible. For the community, by the community! Want to know more about this well-received community initiative, and perhaps win one physical copy as well? Make sure to attend this session!
2019 Group Discussion The cloud in a practical way, Call to Action, and Closing Remarks Download In this session we will talk about our collective experiences gained with building an environment in Citrix Cloud, Azure, and more.
